WEEK 3
Hye everyone, we meet again in this week in a very enjoyful and informative atmosphere. This is where the knowledge is transferred in a very conducive environment conducted by Puan Foziah, our beloved lecturer.
For this week, we got our reference book entitled preparing and Using Visual Aids for English Language Teaching. This book is very essential for us where it provide a lot of information related to technology, issues, philosophy and theory in education.
Then, we were divided into six of groups where we need to discuss a topic given by Puan Foziah. Our group was given a a topic entitled Indirect Learning. My group members were Faizal, Utaya, Chin, Yan and Bun. They were so great in completing the task and each one of us find different resources to present a great input.
So, this topic gave me realization that indirect learning is something that comes naturally where children perform by themselves without any push. So, teacher must be creative in constructing their lesson to give more opportunity among students to participate.
Overall, what I can share with you right now is indirect learning is very important in current education system. We do know that the situation and culture has changed and so as the education environment. Honestly, I do not prefer the traditional method because it was boring and dull. I said this because I had experienced it during my childhood. What my teachers did were they only talk and gave exercise all the time and I just stood still and listened to them until the class finish. This was a very boring and I felt I do not want go to class because I think home is better and happier than school. My point is teacher must make school as a fun place like home.
The best examples of activity to encourage Indirect learning is games. By doing games, they can play and learn at the same time. Thus, as they are playing an educational game, they will get something useful and apply the knowledge in real academic context. The different is only the medium of learning which is more informal and natural.
As conclusion, we as teacher must arrange our lesson properly to prevent a dull and boring learning environment. We also must ensure the content, input or game selected is appropriate, interactive, informative and useful to be used in our lesson. I guess that’s all for this week. Bye.
